Wellways is delighted to announce that the Victorian Government has selected us to lead four additional Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals.

We are excited to continue to play a key role in delivering Victoria's mental health reform initiatives and to lead service transformation.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Services support Victorian communities, providing a convenient access point for local mental health and wellbeing support. Wellways will provide these essential services in partnership to support individuals, their carers and supporters on their mental health, AOD, and wellbeing journey.

Wellways is proud to be leading four new Local Services with our partners in:

Greater Shepparton-Strathbogie-Moira in partnership with:

Goulburn Valley Health and APMHA HealthCare
This Local will be supported by Horses for Hope

Mildura in partnership with:

Mallee District Aboriginal Services, Mildura Base Public Hospital and Sunraysia Community Health Services

Yarra Ranges in partnership with:

Oonah Health and Community Services Aboriginal Corporation, Inspiro Health and Eastern Health

East Gippsland in partnership with:

Gippsland Lakes Complete Health and Latrobe Regional Health

Wellways CEO, Laura Collister, has described the news from the Department of Health as a sign of trust that acknowledges the hard work that Wellways teams and their partners have put into establishing the Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals and the services that have already become available to the community.

“We are humbled and privileged to lead these services in the communities of Mildura, Greater Shepparton-Strathbogie-Moira, Yarra Ranges, and East Gippsland with our partners and look forward to developing strong and trusted relationships across these regions.

Wellways is an organisation born from the grassroots advocacy of a small group of family carers who, over 45 years ago, called out a mental health sector that did not serve them or their loved ones. Providing community-led, community-delivered mental health support through a holistic and individual approach is central to our identity and purpose.”

Wellways delivers all its Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services in partnership with trusted local providers and Ms Collister highlights that all partnerships are critical to the success and viability of the Local Services.

“Reforming Victoria’s mental health system is not something we shy away from but is only possible through united and collaborative partnerships that are committed to the vision of a sector underpinned by human rights and led by the voices of lived experience.”
