Wellways National Manager celebrates Carers Advisory Council appointment

Wellways extends its congratulations to Louise Faulkner on her appointment to the Queensland Carers Advisory Council.

Ms Faulker, Wellways’ National Manager of Service Delivery, Carer Gateway (Queensland and New South Wales) says “I am delighted to be appointed to the Queensland Carers Advisory Council, working alongside council members to raise awareness of the caring role, available supports and improve carer wellbeing.”

Ms Faulkner has worked in community services since her early thirties after completing her studies in Psychology, where she worked in remote areas supporting people who were experiencing domestic/family violence and child sexual assault.

“These challenges are often intertwined. People are incredibly resilient, and the human condition never ceases to amaze me.”

Now, as National Manager, Ms Faulker leads a large team that supports 50,000 carers across the two states.

Minister for Seniors and Disability Services Charis Mullen said, “I’m delighted to welcome Louise Faulkner to the Queensland Carers Advisory Council."

“Louise brings lived experience as a carer and will no doubt ensure carers receive the recognition, respect and support they deserve.”

The 12-member Queensland Carers Advisory Council are drawn from across Queensland and reflect the diversity of carers, sharing their wealth of knowledge and lived experiences.

The purpose of the Council is to advise the Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Seniors and Disability Services and to promote the interests of carers, make recommendations and ensure the voices of carers are heard.

Wellways is confident Ms Faulkner’s leadership, experience, and advocacy as Councilor will positively benefit the 500,000 dedicated carers the Queensland Carers Advisory Council represents.
