Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) programs offer short-term residential support for people experiencing mental health issues, with the aim of preventing a possible hospital admission. They also offer recovery support for people leaving hospital, facilitating earlier discharge and consolidating gains made during an in-patient stay.
Our programs are underpinned by a strong partnership with clinical mental health providers. The clinical providers offer specialist clinical interventions to support mental health and manage the symptoms of mental illness.
Wellways offers a structured residential environment where you are supported in developing self-management skills, as well as re-establishing routines, roles and community connections in preparation for a return to community living. In partnership with Wellways and the clinical mental health provider, you set goals for your stay in PARC that become part of your overall recovery plan.
The maximum length of stay is 28 days.
Our programs offer an individualised approach to supporting recovery within a structured residential environment. While activities in the program are led by your needs and wants, key features of our programs are:
- engagement with consumer peer workers
- involvement of family members
- focus on self-management
- support to manage daily activities
- building connections and engagement with community
- nurturing and building natural supports to create sustainable recovery outcomes
Referrals to PARC vary depending on your area.
