Wellways Housing and Homelessness Support programs operate through a Housing First lens and are guided by the principles of choice, sustainability and community connectedness.

We believe strong and welcoming communities provide the foundation for mental health recovery, wellbeing, and have the power to overcome homelessness.

Approach to housing and homelessness

At Wellways, we believe that housing is:

  • A human right
  • A source of health and wellbeing
  • Essential to supporting connection.

What people can expect from Wellways Housing and Homelessness Support services:

  • We understand people experiencing homelessness are the experts in their housing and recovery journey and that everyone’s journey will differ. Therefore, we will work to understand the individual's support needs and tailor housing and support interventions accordingly.
  • Wellways believes in real homes in real communities, assisting people to develop skills and supports they deem important to sustain a meaningful life beyond the service system, and create opportunities for people to fully participate in the community.
  • People are supported to access housing options that align with their needs.
  • People have the right to design a care team that will support and sustain their housing and recovery journey.
  • Individuals are provided every opportunity to participate in the community in a meaningful way.
