Improving our communication through Together at Wellways

The 2024 Have Your Say all-people survey identified communication from leadership as an area for improvement. In response, we introduced a new quarterly organisation-wide forum to strengthen transparency, connection and belonging.

Team members across Wellways were invited to help choose the name for the new town hall sessions, selecting Together at Wellways, a choice that ensured the initiative reflected our people’s voice and inclusivity from the very beginning.

Across 2025, more than 1,000 team members attended Together at Wellways sessions live, demonstrating strong interest in open communication and opportunities to hear directly from the Executive Leadership Team. These forums continue to create space for questions, updates and shared learning across Wellways.

Celebrating Pride at Wellways

Across 2025, Wellways employees came together to celebrate diversity and inclusion by participating in Pride marches and events across the organisation. In February, members of our Executive Team joined staff from all regions of Victoria at the annual Midsumma Pride event in Melbourne, proudly marching as LGBTQIA+ people and allies.

Positive Culture Strategy

In 2025, Wellways launched our Positive Culture Strategy. Built on insights from surveys, workshops and targeted consultations with diverse employee groups, the strategy provides a clear roadmap to strengthen engagement, inclusion and wellbeing across Wellways, ensuring our people feel supported, respected and empowered. By prioritising positive culture, we are continuing to make Wellways a truly great place to work for everyone.

Mid 2025

Growing the next generation of peer workers

In 2025, we continued to invest in early careers with innovative programs that support the next generation of mental health peer workers. Our Peer Hub program, delivered in partnership with Swinburne University, provides Cert IV students in Mental Health Peer Work with placement hours by working on campus, offering free wellbeing and emotional support to fellow students. This unique approach helps students complete their qualification while gaining practical, real-world experience.

We also welcomed our fourth annual cohort of Peer Cadets, supporting students completing a Diploma or Certificate IV in Mental Health (Peer Work) to develop their skills, confidence, and readiness to enter the workforce.

Late 2025

Supporting our leaders to succeed

We recognise the vital role our people leaders play in the smooth running of daily operations and the delivery of services, as well as their key contribution to achieving our four organisational goals.

To support their development, we introduced a comprehensive three-day leadership training program for leaders across services and corporate teams.

The program covers a wide range of topics, including performance management, managing change, team dynamics and culture, effective communication, and unconscious bias, equipping our leaders with the skills and knowledge to lead confidently and foster positive, high-performing teams.
