Shaping a Meaningful Workplace
Over the past year, Wellways has made significant progress towards achieving our strategic goal of becoming a truly great place to work. We have focused on fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture, enhancing employee engagement, and providing opportunities for career development.
The Have Your Say Survey
The 2024 Have Your Say all-people survey reveals that 60% of our team members are engaged at work, which is a remarkable result compared to the numbers from two years ago as we transitioned from the pandemic and faced other societal impacts.
We also compare favourably to other organisations in our sector when asking how connected Wellways people are to the work they do. 70% see us as a truly great place to work, and 94% find their work meaningful. The two yearly survey has also prompted us to invest in how we communicate, develop careers, and retain quality staff.
Don’t take our word for it, hear from our team members
Senior Support Officer, Melissa shares what she loves about her role and working at Wellways.
Our commitment to the safety of children
Our people have completed mandatory ‘Supporting Children and Young People’s Safety’ training. The training module was developed to ensure every team member understands their role and obligation in recognising and reporting concerns about a child or young person’s safety.
This training resource was co-designed and developed within Wellways using our peoples expertise and lived experience. This ensures we are compliant with the National Child Safe Standards (Standard 7) and meet our requirements as a child safe organisation.
Bringing injury management in-house
After four years of outsourcing injury management, we transitioned the Injury Management function in-house to improve our response to workplace injuries and supporting team members to get back to work as quickly as they can.
A more inclusive workplace for all
To foster a more inclusive workplace, Wellways now offers team members the option to swap a public holiday for a date of personal cultural significance. For example, if a team member does not wish to observe the Easter public holiday, or January 26 which can be a challenging day for First Nations Peoples, we will where possible support their choice to observe an alternative date.
