Maggie is a Commissioner Consumer at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission, where she advocates for mental health consumers and carers. Maggie identifies as having lived experience of schizophrenia and is a descendant of the Ngati Whatua and Ngapuhi tribes, who are Indigenous to Aotearoa (New Zealand).

With a background in various social services, including homelessness and youth support, she brings a wealth of experience to her role. Maggie has most recently served as the CEO of VMIAC (Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council), the consumer peak body in Victoria.

Maggie has dedicated her life and career to advocating for human rights and believes in amplifying the voices of First Nations and multicultural communities. In her previous role as Assistant Commissioner at the Mental Health Complaints Commission, Maggie worked on a project to provide information about complaints processes in multiple languages, promoting accessibility and clarity.
