Wellways community education is designed to help community groups increase their understanding of mental illness, mental health and develop recovery-oriented skills and perspectives.
Our workshops are unique, as they are delivered by trained facilitators with their own lived experience, including carers and family members. Community groups learn about mental health and recovery, drawing from the expertise of people who have been there.
Understanding Mental Illness workshop
This three-hour workshop provides an opportunity for groups to discuss mental illness, mental health and recovery in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. All workshop content is evidence-based and aims to ensure groups receive up-to-date, practical information. Workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of particular community groups.
Engaging and honest presentations by people sharing their personal experience of mental health issues and their journey of recovery. Speakers Bureau presentations form part of the Understanding Mental Illness workshop or may be requested separately.
Community groups who benefit from Wellways community education programs include sporting clubs, schools, councils, businesses, health and community services, emergency services and volunteer groups.
Programs are run nationally through Wellways Australia.
