It’s fantastic recognition for the Housing First program which supports participants to access sustainable housing in the private rental market alongside recovery support.

Gippsland Regional Manager Beth Fogerty, who has spearheaded the program at Wellways, says the recognition brought her to tears.

“Having been along the journey of Doorway for 11 years, seeing its evolution and development over time brought tears to my eyes last night as we received this award.”

Through Doorway, support workers work with people experiencing homelessness and real estate agents to access sustainable housing in the private rental market. It’s then that a participant is provided recovery support.

A recent independent academic review found Wellways' Doorway program has a significant positive effect on health outcomes of participants.

“It is a credit to Wellways vision, leadership and drive to support individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health concerns that we are in a position to not only work in Doorway, but to see the great outcomes for participants.

“A huge thank you and Congratulations to the Doorway team, Rosie Frankish and Cass – thank you for your years of developing and growing the program and team. It has been such a pleasure and honour to be a part of this amazing program. This is such an accomplishment for everyone!

“Doorway is one program which has an abundance of support services in finance, IT and management –we couldn’t deliver the service without you.”
