Since joining with HealthCall in July last year, the Wellways Australia disability portfolio has gone from strength to strength.

With a strong focus on integrating with Wellways Mental Health Services to provide a ‘linear’ model of service, and the rollout of the NDIS across Victoria, Wellways Disability Services have expanded and grown at a rapid rate since it commenced operations in Victoria in December 2016.

We have had the pleasure of supporting many NDIS participants with implementing their plans through support coordination. We provide experienced disability support workers to assist participants with community access, social skills development, independent living skills, attending appointments, cooking, cleaning and encouraging participants to engage with their communities.

Nada (not pictured) was one of our very first participants and reluctantly came to us looking for ‘a little bit of support’. Nada’s big sister was her advocate and only support, having lost both parents a few years earlier.

In the beginning, Nada took some time to establish rapport and trust with her disability support workers, who have worked tirelessly with Nada to develop better conflict resolution skills to deal with any issues arising with her support needs. Nada now self-advocates, calling to make her own preferred arrangements for support workers and shifts.

Nada is currently seeking paid employment as she finishes her TAFE course and is developing her daily living skills with her workers as they support her to cook and clean independently. We are really proud of the progress Nada has made and the positive outcomes she has achieved through her NDIS plan.
