After 24 years as CEO, Liz Crowther has announced her retirement from Wellways. She has decided that, towards the end of her career, it is time to rediscover her creative pursuits and contribute to the sector in ways that are less demanding than running a large, complex organisation. Liz will be formally leaving Wellways on 13 December 2019.
Paul Montgomery, Wellways Board President said, “since she commenced as CEO of Wellways in 1995 Liz has overseen the development and growth of the organisation from a small Victorian advocacy body to a large, dynamic and innovative service provider and advocate right across the country. Liz has also made enormous contributions to the development and growth of the sector through this time.”
“We are deeply grateful for Liz’s vision and leadership and know that she will continue to achieve great things in her new endeavours.”
Laura Collister has been appointed as Wellways’ next CEO, effective December 2019.
Laura first joined Wellways in 2005 following a successful academic career. She has overseen the development of services and research and evaluation through that time. As a member of the executive leadership team, Laura has been instrumental in the development and delivery of Wellways’ current strategic plan which has seen the organisation quadruple in size over the past four years.
Laura is known and respected as a leading thinker in mental health and disability services across the country and has been the driving force of Wellways’ commitment to best-practice innovative services.
“We are delighted that someone with a deep history and knowledge of our organization, as well as breadth and experience in the non-profit sector, will lead Wellways into the future. Laura is a consultative and visionary leader who is committed to Wellways’ vision of a world in which all people can live and thrive in the community,” said Mr Montgomery.
Wellways is a leading national mental health and disability support organisation.
