Far too often the valuable thoughts and opinions of those with first-hand experience of disability and mental health issues are overlooked, especially when it comes to public policy. There may also be geographical, physical and emotional barriers getting in the way.
Which is why Wellways and Mind are holding a series of open consultations to ensure your voices are aired at the Victorian Royal Commission into Mental Health. Insights and ideas that you share will help shape our submissions to the Royal Commission, including shared goals for the future of mental health and wellbeing in Victoria.
Mind and Wellways have planned six consultation workshops across the state, with the first being held in Collingwood next week, 10am-2pm, Wednesday, 22 May. They will also be held in Box Hill, Frankston, Geelong, Warrnambool and Wangaratta.
Anyone with lived experience of mental health issues, their families and carers are welcome to attend.
If you can’t make it to a workshop, you are welcome to complete our online survey. This way you can ensure that your experiences and ideas will be heard by Mind and Wellways Australia and help shape our responses to the Royal Commission.
