This year Wellways reached several impressive milestones. As the National Disability Insurance Scheme continues to roll out we now have 1594 participants across eastern Australia. We joined a national campaign for better services to those with complex mental health issues who have been missing out on NDIS coverage. Our advocacy work continues as gaps in the NDIS remain despite some welcome changes.

This month the National Disability Insurance Agency introduced a new pricing tier for those with “very complex needs”. Our specialist mental health programs have earned major state and commonwealth contracts, most notably a three-year contract to deliver psychosocial support to those with complex mental health issues in the Murrumbidgee region of New South Wales. Our homeless program work in Victoria and Youth Community Living Support Service in Lismore have also won new contracts.

Expanding our services, offering new and innovative projects, and increasing our participant numbers are all in line with the goals set out in our 2017 – 2022 Strategic Plan. In 12 months we have delivered an expanded range of mental health, disability and community care services to more Australians than ever.

I’d like to thank you all for your support this year. Best wishes everyone and remember to look out for each other at this time of year. I encourage you to find out more in our 2017-2018 Annual Review.
