Our vision

Wellways' vision is of a society where people experiencing mental illness and psychosocial disability, and their families and friends, are understood, accepted and afforded the same opportunities as others to participate in the community.

People with mental illness and other psychosocial disabilities will be afforded the same regard as those with physical illnesses, and resources will be available to offer early interventions and state-of-the-art treatment and support.

People will no longer experience stigma and society will treat them with the same respect and dignity as any other person.

Our mission

We work with people who experience mental illness and other psychosocial disabilities, their families and their communities, to build satisfying and meaningful lives. We assist people to get a job, create a home, build relationships and attain physical and mental health and emotional wellbeing. We do these things so people have the same opportunities as others in the community.

Our values

The following values underpin all of our activities:

Honesty
We will be open, truthful, genuine and respectful in all our dealings with clients, members, volunteers, staff and the community.

Acceptance
We include and accept people with mental illness and disability, and we value difference.

Equity
We work to ensure mental health and disability services are accessible and that people receive their entitlements.

Flexibility
We are able and willing to adjust to individuality, and we welcome diversity and use it for the benefit of the individual, the community and our organisation.

Commitment
We work towards the achievement of our vision and mission and strive for excellence in all we do.

Participation
We fully and happily engage in positive developments for people with mental illness, their families and their friends and cooperate with our membership, volunteers, staff and a range of community agencies.

Our practices

Community inclusion underpins all of our efforts as an organisation. We have a commitment to ensuring that all the people we serve have opportunities to fully participate in the community, and we actively work to create communities that seek out and welcome the participation of everyone.
